The official name of the school is Gov. Jacinto Borja High School. It is names after the late provincial governor of Bohol. The motion to establish high school in Cantaongon was formally sponsored by Congresswoma Venice-Borja Agana through House Bill No. 1339, s. 1992. The School has been operating effective school year 1993-1994 with 63 students enrolled.
The school was founded by a group of founders/prime movers headed by the former Mayor Wilfredo Caresosa and Vice Mayor Cesar Tomas Lopez. The successfully acquired a lot with an area of 11, 176.68 s.q.m along the provincial road bound to Antequera town.
